Happy Thanksgiving!
With the holiday season bearing down on us like a speeding train bound for the North Pole, I want to take a moment to thank my readers for their support and comments. In appreciation of your time spent on this site, I want to offer up a tasty libation guaranteed to juice up your holiday celebration.
This concoction was suggested to me by a mystery writer, Terry Shames. Read more about Terry’s work here.
I tried Terry’s suggestion and after just one, found myself singing old Irish songs I didn’t know the words to. I have since modified the recipe, mellowing it out a bit with more sweet and sour and adding lime and orange juice to cut the sweet.
So far this new version doesn’t have a name, and to be listed in my recipe list, it must have a name. Give it a try, and after a few, send me your name suggestion.
Nameless Cocktail
- 2 shots Brandy
- 1 shot Triple Sec
- 3 shots Sweet and Sour mix
- ½ shot lime juice
- ½ shot orange
- 1 orange slice
In a pitcher mix liquids. Muddle orange slice in the bottom of a mixing cup. Add some liquid. Add some ice. Shake, shake, shake. Dance, dance, dance. Shake, shake, shake.
Makes 3.
Nicola, thanks for the plug. I suppose it’s possible that I drank a bunch of these and don’t remember, but I don’t think this is my suggestion. For sure, I don’t mind taking credit for it–and I plan to try it out–but I’m afraid somebody is reading your recipe and thinking I stole it! But I don’t mind taking a stab at a name. How about Citron Alexander. Or Cinderella Citrus.
It is possible you drank a lot of these and don’t remember. That’s what happened to me when I tried your original recipe. :) I modified your recipe so don’t worry, it’s all new now. Interesting name suggestions. One male, one female. Are you always this polite? I know you are. And I like both names! thanks for the suggestions. And Happy Thanksgiving!
Another Thanksgiving Day suggestion was Quid Pro Quo.
